We heard them before we saw them - water splashing under foot. Then their shapes came into form, reflections doubling them up across the darking night and still water that was tinted with deep magentas. The deep red sun had dropped under the tree-line but its warm aura hung in the air, gifting us with just enough light before the moon picked up where it left off.
