The SilverBack | Rwanda
Printed A0, Hannmuhle Paper
£3800
After a three hour hike through mountainous jungle we came across this SilverBack Mountain Gorilla and his brother in the leafy undergrowth of the Volcanoes National Park. Just a few metres away the rest of the family played in the dappled light. It was one of the most intimate and intense wildlife experiences we've ever had - there was a moment of recognition - he is looking at us, not through us. We were standing alongside 195kg of muscle, breathing thinly in the high altitude. Fragile as a nettle. It is in these moments that the ability to preserve an experience and lock it into an image forever becomes something incredible.

The Featherman | Kenya
A0, Hannamuhle Paper
£3800
This is a portrait of a Samburu Moran or warrior on market day near Nanyuki in Laikipia, Kenya. The image shows the style in which he and his initiation year of young men has chosen to define themselves. With the help of the team from Segera we created an impromptu studio behind a row of corrugated stores. What we love about this image is the interaction of old and new of modern and traditional, fake and real.
